I have moved with my wife and daughter to the South Coast of New South Wales, I live by the beach, I am growing my own veg. Some would say I am living the dream. I am, this I cannot deny and nor would I want to. Now the real work begins and the nerves set in. For the last 6 months I have been working on getting the Cert IV in Celebrancy so that I can be an authorised marriage celebrant.
I left a steady well paid job, to move to a career that will be part time at best, will be casual, unsteady work and will be over in a flash. I never thought that this is where I would be, but yet here I am and I am so excited to be here.
My first wedding is just over a month away. My second a week later. They are both friends of mine and I can’t think of a more wonderful way to show people how much they mean to us than by officiating their occasions. I have always been in awe of people who have specific talents, that can perform, or have a skill or trade. Now I feel that I have something to offer, something to give. Performing a ceremony, whether it be a wedding, a funeral or a baby naming is an absolute honour and now I can’t wait to get started.
Hopefully in the coming weeks, months and years I have more wisdom and insight to offer. But for now it’s a quick hello. If you know of anyone who may require a celebrant in the not too distant future, if you’ve made it this far, get in touch.
Cheers
Katharine
